Mayers achieves his first success

Harry Mayers was the only player to better par with an excellent two under 68 to win the second Devon PGA of the year at East Devon to achieve his first success since he turned pro with Neil Holman.

He started with the first of his three bogeys but later made five birdies, three on the back nine.

The Torbay Golf Centre assistant finished two shots clear of home player Kevin Harper who also dropped three shots. Paul Hendriksen (Ivybridge) claimed third on 71. Exeter pair Ryan Pope and Tom Jessamine shared fourth on 72.

Will Nolan Farley from Bovey Castle was fourth and retains his lead in the Order of Merit.
